Crisis - Changing Lives
‘Changing Lives’ offers grants to homeless people seeking to meet their vocational goals. It also aims to get people involved in activities that raise their confidence, can improve their skills and enable them to live independently and contribute to society. The programme offers up to £2000. Applications must be made in conjuction with a support worker. Application forms are available to download from the website, get in touch with them for an up to date deadline for the next round.

Travellers Aid Trust
The two main objectives of the Travellers Aid Trust are to relieve poverty and distress amongst people who adopt a nomadic lifestyle and to advance the education among the children of Travellers. They offer small grant award schemes through the Violet Clegg Fund which offers up to £250 and the ‘Comic Relief Small Grants for Gypsies and Travellers’ which offers up to £3000. They accept applications all year round- go to their website to download an application form or give them a call.
Grants For Individuals
Unlimited
UnLtd gives out 1,000 “Level 1” Awards of between £500 and £5,000, each year across the
UK. They are aimed at individuals or informal groups of people who want to set up new
projects and who have both the ideas and the commitment to develop projects which will
benefit their community. They hold surgeries every month where you have the opportunity
to discuss your application and find out whether your proposal is likely to be successful.

Scarman Trust
The Scarman Trust offers awards of between £1,500 and £2,000 to ‘Community
Champions’ -individuals who have an idea for a community project. They have regional
offices that offer awards which include a range of support, such as access to a
national information service, networking events, web site and phone conferences. Projects
that the Trust has funded include youth groups, healthy eating clubs, community
kitchens, support groups and recycling projects. See their website for more info on their application process, deadlines and to find your nearest regional office.

Educational Grants Advisory Service
The Educational Grants Advisory Service (EGAS) offers guidance and advice on funding for
people who need grants to help with their studies. They have a comprehensive guide to
funding and also a grant finding database. Enter the details of the course you want and they
will help match you up with an appropriate funder.

Prince’s Trust- The Big Boost
Through a new scheme called The Big Boost, groups of 11- 25 year olds can get awards
from £250 up to £5,000 to help get their ideas off the ground. The awards help young
people set up and deliver projects in their local area- the award is cash plus the support to
help young people make their ideas a reality. It aims to reach young people from all
backgrounds and will support a wide range of ideas, from ideas developed at school
through to larger scale, community projects. You need to fill out an application form and
supply referees.

Grants For Small Projects
Awards For All
Awards For All gives grants of between £300 and £10,000 to small not-for-profit groups. There is a slightly different application procedure for each of the countries within the UK so have a look at their website, which is clear and helpful. Their grants are for community projects and to encourage people to take part in community activites like art, sport, heritage, and promotion of education and the environment. Applying is quite straight forward and you will get an answer within two months. This money comes from the Lottery.
Comic Relief
As well as the excellent foreign aid work Comic Relief does, it also offers three types of grant for UK projects - one of which is a small grant for up to £5,000. It only works with very specific groups, only accepting applications from registered charities or voluntary organisations (as opposed to individuals), that aim to work with one of the following: young people, older people, people with mental health problems, refugees and asylum seekers, those effected by domestic violence and disadvantaged communities. They strongly encourage user-led projects.
