Peter is starting up his own graphics design company, providing animation, design, video editing, 3D graphics and web design. The grant will pay for his broadband service and website hosting for a year, business cards and a graphics tablet.

New Day is a gardening project for single homeless people aged 16-25 in the Manchester area. The grant will pay for plants, compost, pots and hanging baskets, as well as benches, tables and chairs and a barbecue to facilitate socialising in the garden area.

Darren Tunnah: £620 |
|
Darren is setting up as a self-employed ceiling erector and partitioner. His grant will pay for the necessary tools, a set of boots and overalls, and a wheeled toolbox to help him transport his kit between jobs. |
Snooker for Homeless People : £700 |
|
This group is organising snooker tournaments for fellow homeless people of all ages. Their grant will pay for a snooker table and furniture, a set of trophies, transport expenses, and stationery for their office to help them run their project. |
H.A.P. Service User Group: £500 |
|
This group of clients of the Homeless Action Programme at the YMCA in Ashington want to set up a moving-in pack service for people receiving a new tenancy. Their grant will pay for 50 moving-in packs containing basic cleaning and personal hygiene products for new tenants, and ‘emergency packs’ of personal hygiene products for clients coming in off the street.

New Box Community Project : £693.82 |

This scheme will deliver recreational boxing to young people through a nationally accredited award scheme, taught by a recently qualified female boxing tutor. Their grant will pay for 18 sets of boxing gloves and skipping ropes.

Ground Zero : £700 |
|
Ground Zero is a welfare rights and housing advice service for ex-drug and alcohol users by ex-users. The grant will enable them to continue and expand their services for a year, by covering their telephone and printing costs and travel expenses for their volunteers.

Disability Awareness Sales: £700 |
|
Disability Awareness Sales provide personalised clothing that raises awareness of the rights of blind, deaf and partially-sighted people. The company uses the Braille, Moon and sign language alphabets to print slogans on clothing, caps, shoes and even glasses, fingernails and body art. Their grant will allow them to buy a specialised printer and jet press to help produce their products. |
Outside In : £700 |

Outside In will produce a newsletter/magazine about substance use, containing reports and personal stories from users who discuss their experiences and the effects and long term outcomes of their substance use. It will also offer advice and signpost readers to services. The grant will cover paper and printing costs, a Dictaphone, camera and transport costs for the reporter who will gather people’s stories.

Bodmin Foyer Gardening Group : £633 |

These Bodmin Foyer residents want to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers, which will help them to improve their diets and to recycle more waste by making compost for their garden. They will give any surplus food they grow to other homeless people. Their grant paid for a small garden shed and plastic greenhouse, tools, seeds, fruit plants and trees, a composter, water pump and water butt, hoses, plant food, gloves and wellies. |
Furnace Banc Falcons : £700 |

This is a football project for young hostel residents, who train together once a week and hope to participate in the Street Soccer League and Homeless World Cup. Their grant will allow them to hire space for their football practices and matches, and pay for gym facilities, equipment, and food and drink on match days. |
