Crafty Folk: £485 |

A group of 20 artists from East London with experience of homelessness have joined together to form Crafty Folk to run a regular market stall to sell their arts and crafts. Starting with a stall at Spitalfields market their award will be spent on materials to produce crafts for sale and on marketing materials to promote the group. The stall will not only provide an outlet to sell their work but showcases the talents of homeless artists. |
UK Association of Gypsy Women: £500 |

An organisation run by and for women Travellers to seek equality in accommodation, healthcare, education and employment for Romany Gypsy Women and their families. They provide advocacy and support to Travellers and also run training and education for non-Gypsy individuals and organisation on the history and culture of Romany Gypsys. Based in Durham they work throughout the UK. Their Award will support the travel costs of on-site outreach visits to Gypsy women in need of support. |
The Haven Club: £410 |

The Haven is a member led social club for anyone who has a self-identified problem with drugs or alcohol and who is actively addressing the issue. Everyone is welcome as long as they are not showing signs of drug or alcohol use on the day. The club was set up by people with experience of homelessness, and the majority of members still share that experience. Their Award will buy a new set of games and prizes for social club events. |

Lilo-Sushi Arts: £500 |
|
Lilo-Sushi Arts are a collective of community artists focusing on empowering insecurely housed children, adults and people with special needs based in the local area of Whitehawk in Brighton. They inspire people to gain knowledge of nutrition and growing their own food through the medium of art. They are using the grant to make a clay oven for use by the community and will be decorating the oven with mosaics designed and created by community groups. The oven wil then be used to teach cooking skills. Most of the Lilo-Suhi Arts group have personal experience of homelessness and they are delivering this project in association with The Whitehawk Community Food Project. |
The Holy Cross Monday Video Club: £500 |

At a day centre in North London one of the regular homeless service users has set up a film club. The successful club has been running for five years, where on a weekly basis it shows feature films in a cinema style atmosphere. The Award will be used to purchase a projector and screen to create a cinema style set up to enable people who are unable to access mainstream cinemas to experience the big screen. |
Bolton Shared Housing Scheme: £500 |

The Residents of the Bolton Shared Housing Scheme, a homeless persons hostel, have come together to re-design and redecorate a currently unused shared living room. They have decided to create an activity and computer room and designed a new room layout and murals for the walls. The grant will be used to buy painting and decorating materials and new furniture for the room. All decorating will be done by the residents themselves as they take control of and improve their living environment. |
The Tara Centre for Women Leading Change: £500 |

The Tara Centre is a group of women refugees who have all been through the homeless system. They have come together to create and develop a training programme to enable a group of single refugee women to become leaders of their communities. They will train 18 women as trainers and gain knowledge in housing advice, language support and referral opportunities so they can go into hostels and offer advocacy and support to women refugees experiencing homelessness. The grant will be used to register as a formal company and provide the administration costs to continue to exist as the first training programme is created. |
James Rawle: £500 |

James Rawle is a Traveller who is setting up an education co-op to provide education materials for Traveller children who are educated outside of the mainstream and consultation for parents whose children are not currently in schools. He aims to directly tackle the low level of literacy among some site children. The grant will be used to buy a laptop with wireless internet connection and education software so that he is able to go direct to Traveller children onsite and offer innovative alternative education in basic skills and also familiarise children with computers and the internet. |
